Re: [Help] focusing/settings Instead of using f/4.5, try f/8 or f/11.
Is this an issue of not knowing how to change the setting on the camera? Or did you try that and it still didn't work?
Also, with the smaller aperture, you should focus on the center of the flower. |

Changing the aperture while taking the flower wasn't an option, since when I put the camera in macro mode, I can't manually change anything.
So I guess the question still stands - or I should just take a step back from the flower, and make sure the whole thing is in focus. |

I shoot a lot of flower macros at f/22 which pretty much requires a tripod unless you have a ton of light. In your shot above looks like you have plenty of shutter speed to deal with (1/800th) you could get that down several stops before worrying about it hand held. -- »www.rsdhope.org "We are not honest and open-minded explorers of reality; we are alienated from reality because we have made ourselves the center of the universe." Thanks for the advice. That is probably correct - for the most part I would stay away from the pre-programmed scene modes. Use them to see what choices the camera would make, and then move back to modes with more control for tweaking.
Av is probably your friend here - use it when you want control over the DOF. Camera will chose a good shutter speed. -- »www.rsdhope.org "We are not honest and open-minded explorers of reality; we are alienated from reality because we have made ourselves the center of the universe." We use a macro lens but not macro mode:). -- Some assembly required, your mileage may vary, no pixels were harmed in the writing of this post. Brain cells, though, are a different matter.
