svchost error during update for kb925902

I tried letting the update kb925902 install normally, but i kept getting an SVCHOST error and then the system just sat there blinking at me.

I had set a restore point earlier today, so i backed up to that restore point and started searching.

I found that this is a known problem and there is a hotfix out for it. The hotfix is kb927891. Downloaded it, installed, and then was able to install kb925902 normally.

Good luck to the poor users who don't have a clue what just happened to their computers. I'm still puzzled why the kb927891 fix wasn't pushed during the last cycle of updates....

Or why this patch to "fix what we broke" requires validation when the breaking patch didn't...
