| RIAA Survey From TorrentFreak:
quote: Over at P2Pnet, Jon has put together a survey about these Sultans of Spin. I must note that the readers of P2Pnet, TorrentFreak and Zeropaid and other filesharing oriented websites are probably not a representative group of respondents for the entire online population, but it will be still interesting to see the results.
From P2Pnet:
I think it's the first survey of its kind and obviously, the more people who respond, the better. So please tell everyone you know about it.
Spin is the, "sometimes pejorative term signifying a heavily biased portrayal in one's own favor of an event or situation," the Wikipedia sums it up, continuing, spin, often, though not always, implies disingenuous, deceptive and/or highly manipulative tactics. And its, borrowed, says the post, from ball sports such as cricket, where a spin bowler may impart spin on the ball during a delivery so that it will curve through the air or bounce in an advantageous manner.
The Sultans of Spin examines spin-doctoring in the pejorative sense --- the art of presenting stuff as it isn't.
Take the survey. -- The Toll

| When the corporate music industry releases inaccurate, distorted and heavily skewed statements and the mainstream media and 'credible' sites pick them up and report them as gospel, no one says a word.
The survey will go public on Monday, and I'll be leaving it up until the weekend (and maybe longer). That might add fresh blood, so to speak, and with it, a little more 'credibility'.
But at the end of the day, it's another point of view from definitely interested parties in an area where points of view are pretty much one-sided and extremely limited.
Cheers! Jon p2pnet.net | |

| Re: RIAA Survey Damn, that was a long read, and a lotta questions! Nothing surprising though, but interesting to see people's opinions. The RIAA also baffles me because they've never addressed the fact that the video game industry is probably a bigger threat to their business than are downloaders. Also, their cat-and-mouse game with downloaders will soon be passé once everyone starts using encrypted file-sharing apps. Check out Gigatribe for example: »www.gigatribe.com | |
