IIRC, you don't have to dial a '1' for long distance, much like cell phones. In any case, here in the DC area, we have to dial ten digits on a land line, because of overlapping area codes. But if you have a phone with enough memory, much like a cell phone, you can let the phone do the ten digit dialing for you.
Agreed that verifying that you have not moved your TA is a pain, especially when it happens so often as a result of sub-second glitch in the power line. An easy fix is an inexpensive UPS for the TA. |
