Six megs is the Internet access component. The VDSL sync rate is considerably higher than that.
That six, however, needs to double or triple. -- Toolmaster of La Grange. |

Right, but regardless if the user is signing up for IPTV, they still get 6meg. It's not like they can use the "unused" bandwidth for their internet portion.
At least that's how I understand it. -- YourIP.US - It's Your IP .. and more! rr.cx - Personal Site.. coming soon. |

| In it's present incarnation, yes that's correct. But the IPTV bandwidth is not taken from the six megs dedicated to Internet access. Hopefully at some point they'll feel confident enough to (1) increase the Internet access allotment or (2) ditch the VDSL portion and run FTTH. It's a little early to predict what they'll do, and all eyes are still on Verizon's FiOS for guidance on how much consumer uptake there will be anyway.
ATT could do all Internet on these circuits. It's just a matter of setting the profile. That's not the point of it, though, so IPTV will continue to be front-and-center and Internet will continue to be the third child of the UVerse family. -- Toolmaster of La Grange. |
