| FFC ' in the clear' channels?
Hey all,
Since all set top boxes are mandated tohave working firewire ports, I just recently set up my PC to record via that connection using DVHS.
However, there are only TWO digital channels I am able to record from. I thought that ALL channels where supposed to be recordable with at least a 'copy once' option via FCC Mandate.
Is this a problem with Verizon, or another no effect rule in place to make the FCC look good?

But have you confirmed that the content in question is actually flagged 'copy never' through Motorola STB diagnostics?
Your issue may have less to do with content flagging and more to do with 1394 communication issues. |

| reply to TurtleFan I found what I think is the only diagnostics option, but nothing that I think would tell me the 'copy never' 'copy once', etc...
What am I looking for on the Diagnostics page exactly?
Thanks |

What am I looking for on the Diagnostics page exactly? Tune to the channel you want to check. Open the diagnostics screen and find the page that lists the copy control information (CCI). The CCI bit tells you what flag is used on that channel.
CCI = 0 = copy freely CCI = 1 = copy no more (previously copied, such as on DVR) CCI = 10 = copy one generation CCI = 11 = copy never |
