 | Please, if someone stole your ideas and made money off it you would probably be running to court faster then verizon did. Just because they are a big "evil" corporation according to some, why shouldn't they protect their IP. After all it is not like people come in and give them ideas and stuff for free. It take $$$$ money to develop technology. |

Go read them and what they are tying to "protect" from being stolen. fact is they have more money then god and were able to take very abstract ideas and make some very large leaps and bounds to make this stick to vonage -- www.stopfcc.comI do not think the government needs to restrict free speech especially on a device that has an off knob. |

 | reply to haff99 An IDEA that you do not develop should not be patented. VZ pattented an IDEA for a service that they did not even offered or planed, until companies like vonage made them bleed customers.
Is a bunch of BS. |
|
 | How do you think many companies get started? They have an idea. Then they get a patent. An idea is usually the first thing patented. The patent usually exists well before an actual product is out. Vonage took Verizons "IDEA". So why shouldn't Vonage pay for it? I totally don't see the issue here. |

Re: Please, if someone stole your ideas and made money off it Ok let's assume this is the case.
I invent the quagmire gizmo 2000 ( herein referred to as the gizmo ).
I invent the gizmo and am poor, I can't afford to "develop" it, but I still have this genius idea. I talk to a friend seeking venture capital to get my Gizmo into production to change the world and make a little cash for my idea ( the Gizmo ).
He declines. Next he talks to a friend about it, and the friend says hey this Gizmo can end world hunger / cure aids / stop Nigerian 419 scams.
Next thing you know the Gizmo has a new name , Vongizmo ( ironic eh ? ). Vongizmo is selling world wide. So many in fact that It taunts me on TV ! I take vongizmos creators to court to get my idea off their plate and get it back on my plate since I owned the idea.
Because over the past 3 years I hit the lottery and made 8 kajillion dollars ( gizmo helps count this hi too ) I should not be able to sue for the money and rights to my idea ?
Here in lies the issue, if it's not "developed" then I lose out and some one pillaged my idea even though at that point i couldn't afford to put it out ! That is right how ? You can't just say that because then every one would pillage patents.
You can't claim well their big bad company so it's ok.
You can't claim that only the little guys should be able to keep it because companies employ little people.
Your idea just doesn't hold water. You can't treat certain people different from companies. It sucks but it's the truth. -- "It's always funny until someone gets hurt......and then it's absolutely friggin' hysterical!" |

Re: How do you think many companies get started? Yes, this was their idea.
For X = 1 to Y where Y = every conceivable telco service. Patent = X + Internet Send Patent Next X
Wait (10 years)
For X = 1 to Z where Z = # of telco startups Search iPatent portfolio Sue X w/ iPatent Next X |
