The resulting financial drain set them up for buyout; and Southwestern Bell Telephone obliged them. SWBT dumped the cable enterprise to concentrate on the telco business: And called the resulting buyouts, "SBC".<br><br>AT&T once ventured into the cable business (ATTBI). The resulting financial drain set them up for buyout; and SBC obliged them. AT&T had already bailed on the cable enterprise by the time that SBC bought them, so SBC didn't have to dump the cable enterprise. But they did change the name of the company. Again.
