[General] Been in a automobile crash today...

Well I woke up at 5AM with severe stomach pains and vomiting that I decided not to head over to school today and call in sick. I decided that I need some medication and headed out driving towards the local Walgreens.

I turn to right and get on the left lane to turn into the plaza. The light turns red at the end of the street and the cars began to pile in front of me. I flashed my lights so the drivers coming slowly will leave the coast clear for me to pass. Two drivers on the first two lanes stop, I already had my turning signal and I pull in slowly and wait for the third lane to clear with cars passing by at full speed. After from what I saw with limited vision I put the front of my car sticking out into the last lane to pass. I hit on the gas slowly and turn into the plaza.

I then notice a car coming fast on the lane with not enough time to brake and I think fast and put the car in neutral almost without thinking and pressed on the brakes and at a full stop. He brakes hard but hits the front right side of my car at almost full speed and throws the front of my car flying and I fall into the plazas entrance. I felt very little from the hit but I quickly turn off the car put the parking brake and check the guy to see if he is alright.

After that I called my insurance while he was doing the same and called a officer for a police report of the incident. At first the situation looked very little so the officer said if I can move the car from the entrance. But upon moving he told me to stop and I got out and saw how really bad the damage was to the wheel.

The entire front bumper cracked half way and the side was dented in. The frame was solid as a rock though and it hit the front but everything inside the hood was alright with no real damage to any internal components. The passenger door also with a slight curve also was damaged.

In the end I was alright but my car is not and total damages range around 3,000USD which is a rough estimate.

I also received a citation stating he had the right of way, and I really right now feel screwed because someone speeding so fast to a red light hit the front side of my car and I have to pay the fine.

I did deserve my previous speeding ticket and I paid for it in full, but I do not deserve this one at all and now I luckily saved up some money for those what-if situations and have enough money to cover the high deductible I just changed yesterday night to lower my monthly premium. (bad luck)

I fucking hate driving in Florida, I hate Florida drivers and now I hate the law because I feel screwed. The officer told me I had really bad luck and that he believes me but he is ordered to do what the law states.

The worst part of this though is that some asshole was honking the horn behind him right after the accident took place. It just goes to show how stupid some drivers can seriously be.

Maybe if I never did eat that stupid donut which made me feel like trash I could have avoided going to the pharmacy and saving myself from a citation and a car that cannot even run at this point.

What's next almighty one if you even exist.

My mom has been terminated from her job.
My step father fell from a roof at his job and he is stuck in bed for the next 3 months.
My car now gets slammed and unusable.

What the hell is next huh?!

I fail to see how this isn't your fault, you YIELD to the on coming traffic the on coming traffic doesn't have to yield to you.

Pretty poor decision on your part to go, considering you stated yourself you had LIMITED vision.

I agree with iEvolution - it is very cut and dry that it is your fault. Common sense tells you that you shouldn't turn left in front of cars unless you are completely sure that all vehicles are going to stop for you. Expensive lesson learned

Yeah ok I am at fault for waiting at my turn to pass. By the way by limited vision I was referring to the two cars blocking the last lane unable to see the third lane. I was only able to see at least 15ft of it. So I proceeded with caution sticking the front part of my car out. Then when no cars where passing I decided to pass and then I see this guy and slams into me.

Stick the law books up your asses I yielded the right of way and waited with my turn signal to pass. I will be fighting this in court because there was then no possible way for me to avoid a accident. Then I would just get an citation for blocking traffic by not passing and I proceeded with caution in order to avoid it.

God forbid I hit the gas and my car would of been slammed in the middle where in my honest opinion is the weakest part of the frame.

I been screwed over many times, but hell will it be this time.

You just hate getting answers you don't think are correct. Dude, you can probably pay it off by soliciting bracelets on public transit like a homeless person.

You say you yielded, but you didn't have the right-of-way. If you got hit and didn't have the right of way, YOU FAILED TO YIELD.

You don't just yield once and then go... you yield until it's completely clear. If it had been completely clear, you wouldn't have gotten hit. You're a bloody blockhead.

No, I just hate getting answers to those who think law is the only thing that matters here.

But hey what ever right, my opinion does not matter here next time you get into a car accident and you feel you have been screwed over I will be laughing my ass off through the sidelines for all the damages you must pay.

Why not just follow that route and see how much that would get you as its very clear you cannot think more of a situation other than what you read in the front of your screen.

I don't recall any law that says you can just noise your way out into traffic either, nor any law that states traffic must slow down for you when you make a left hand turn.

News for you, you are NOT YIELDING when traffic has to SLOW or STOP for you. Even in high traffic situations in which cars are backed up from a light, people do NOT have to stop for you, but most people are courteous enough to stop and let you through.

If you were yielding the right of way you wouldn't have got hit, END of STORY. Turning on your turn signal is not yielding.

This is a prime example of people not taking responsibility for their actions, always someone or something else's fault.

Go ahead, waste your time fighting it in court, you will NOT win. Those Law Books you told me to cram up my ass certainly will win in this situation.

Lesson you should have learned? That you don't pass unless you are 100% clear and you KNOW there are no vehicles coming.

I will say though the other guy is pretty retarded if the other two lanes slowed down and he continued to romp down the road, but he still isn't at fault.

Your life isn't all the bad man, Your dad isn't dead right? Your mom can still find another job right? Your car can be fixed right? There are many people in less fortunate situations than you have, You just have to keep living and things will look up.

Not sure. But you're the one who's screwing yourself... too bad you had to involve an innocent motorist this time.

At the end of the day, law is the only thing that matters. The insurance companies along with the police department will take the law into consideration and determine the outcome. You could rant till you're blue in the face, it won't matter. Laws are there for a reason. If someone wrongfully hit you, you would be right here ranting about how the law should be used to go after the other party. You can't use the law to your advantage sometimes and then dismiss it when it is against you....

"You can't use the law to your advantage sometimes and then dismiss it when it is against you...."

I never did, I just feel that I been screwed here and want to fight it. But everyone whipped out those books at me and explained what the law states. There is no point in fighting it since its like fighting a case where I hit someone in the back. I am automatically at fault.

I am just having a bad day and the last thing I need is having some people tell me that a "Florida driver" is innocent. Stuff like this happens and I must accept that fact, I must also accept the fact that I live in the worst freaking place to drive. I saw the coast as cleared, turns out someone was coming from far away fast enough that by the time I turned and saw him it was too late.

Even though I think I yielded which according to many say I did not then all I can do is go and pound sand. I am just glad my insurance company was understanding because the same exact accident has happened to some of their employees and they will not increase my premiums for this ticket although the points will show up on my driving record.

I also am glad that the situation was just at least property damage and the situation could of been much worse with a pedestrian nearby and then we got a freaking crime scene.

I will use the law when I feel I was the victim unless it was clearly pointed out to me that I was the one at fault. After speaking to several people personally they told me it was indeed my own fault.

So yes I can rant to my hearts content and it wont matter.

But usually when someone screws me over I will bite them till they have barely nothing left.

But you should know me already by now s bassaw how mad can actually get about certain things. It should be no surprise to you on why I am ranting.

I am pretty sure anyone will use the law to defend themselves when they think the other person is at fault.

Yes, but when you are wrong, you must accept the law's consequences.

I'll deliberately *block* a left-turner just to prevent this type of situation: I'm doing them a favor by not letting them through.

If I *am* the left turner and some naive soul, thinking he's doing me a favor, tries to open a path for me in hopes that the other lanes will do the same, I ignore him and wait if I can't see the other lanes.

Of course, your sickness-addled mind probably wasn't able to comprehend such things at the time, which is totally understandable.

Now had you gone to school, none of this would have happened! I tell myself that everytime I skip work or school.

It happens. At least you were not injured.
