What is probably going to happen is when FIOS FINALLY hits my area or anywhere in the country there is NOT FIOS right now. RR (or ones current ISP) will up the speeds to compete w/them. They did it with Verizon DSL. RR was at 3.0, DSL was at 3.0 at a lower price. RR raised their speed to 5.0 and now 7.0 (more for some areas of the city - up to 10.0 for standard service).

True but that means time warner up the speeds because the competition. Competition is always good , prices wars , and customer satisfaction war. That's a no brainer. and if this was your OWN business dont you take it where plp are actually gonna buy it?? ( percentage wise), I've never seen a mall in an area in the middle of nowhere where they are not gonna make a profit and just a few gonna plp gonna stop and buy something once a month , meanwhile they have to pay maintenance and personnel , power , heat etc. I totally agree that everyone should be entitled to the same benefits of the bandwidth but let them make a penny on the neighborhoods where they gonna build a customer base and then move to the others

I've tried working with Verizon in the past for my broadband needs. They failed Bright House didn't.

I now have 15/2 with a static IP for $89.95 a month. Verizon wants $99.99 for the same thing. Plus Verizon would tack on things like USF, a regulatory cost recovery fee and the "we need more money in our coffee fund" fee.

While I don't have a static IP, I am paying $49.99 for 15/2 service and there are no fees or taxes on the Internet. ...just the TV side.

At the time I went with Bright House, neither BH or VZ offered static IP's with their residential service, only with business class service. Verizon wants $10.04 more plus a two year contract.

In 2000 I moved to my current home 20 miles north of Tampa. I was stuck on dialup for a while. I communicated with Verizon about them getting DSL out here but they made the business decision (their words not mine) not to. My neighbor works for Verizon and told me it was because of the fight over line sharing. Interestingly, even after the RT was in place they still waited more than a year to start DSL service The cable company was first with broadband, Verizon has always been a day late and a dollar more. Not worth it to me.

Why do you need a static IP exactly?
Theres nothing I can't do with a dynamic IP that I can with a static (aside from host a web server on port 80, because of the port block - and its pretty stupid to be running a real web service off the back of your residential 2MB connection anyhow, especially for an extra 40 bucks a month!)

If Fios ever does show up,I'll call RR and they'll up my speed and lower the price! Verizon won't offer DSL in my area and I live in a heavily populated area in the largest city in the country. Verizon doesn't know which end is up! The corporate leaders need to shave their asses and start walking backwards!

LOL. Guess you never had it. Oh and their cable PQ is better than cable too. Verizon isn't perfect, but it's better than the esablished cable companies I've had all over the country....

"Their internet is a joke"... LOL That's a good one... :-/

Actually the Fios business plan with 15/2 and 5 static IPs I use is straight $99.95, no fees extra.
