That file is only 26.6MB in size and really not large enough to get a good feel for the download speed he is getting. If you notice, it starts throttling down towards the end and hasn't finished 'levelling off' yet when the DL is complete. I would think a file in the 60MB+ size would give a truer indication of where you're at. |

| Mine isn't throttling down at 26MB... more like at 40MB.
Still though, if one were to use the download that is REAL close to one's area, the download will be faster!
Me to Pitt... 630KB/sec. Me to San Jose... smokin!
The whole distance/routing/peering thing. Right?

| reply to dadkins Re: [Speed] Valid Comcast Speed Measurement?-Modem Levels
I was finally able to get into the modem (SB3100) and found:
Downstream Value Frequency 579000000 Hz Locked Signal to Noise Ratio 32 dB Power Level 0 dBmV The Downstream Power Level reading is a snapshot taken at the time this page was requested. Please Reload/Refresh this Page for a new reading
Upstream Value Channel ID 1 Frequency 33000000 Hz Ranged Power Level 54 dBmV
These appear ok to me. Modem on leg of first 3 port splitter.
Modem address: 192.168.100.1

| Those levels need to be improved, the downstream level is probably not accurate. Your upstream level is too close to the 55 upper limit. The noise ratio should be a minimum of 33. Schedule a service call so they can take a look at your wiring and upgrade your modem. |
