| reply to jacktaw Yep, same issue here. I can make a TCP connection, but nothing comes down the wire after that. It appears to be restricted to port 80 traffic, as my mail is coming through just fine, but I can't get to mail.yahoo.com. Comcast needs to hire some real network engineers... |

@comcast.net | reply to vortex2050 I can't get to www.somethingawful.com or www.easynews.com
so my entire internet connection might as well be down completely for all I care. |

@comcast.net | reply to jacktaw I'm in Seattle, WA and am having some connection issues as well. I just got of the live support chat and the person told me that there's an outage in Washington and that it would be at least 2 hours. |

@comcast.net
| reply to jacktaw Does look like Global Crossing is having a problem with severe latency to Verizon Boston.
If you go to »www.internetpulse.net and do a focus from Global Crossing to Verizon Boston you can see the packet loss report (212ms+). Of course Global Crossing is reporting an "average" packet loss of only 44.42ms
While 212ms is huge I'm not certain that this is enough to cause the problems we're seeing. Anyone on a direct Verizon circuit in the NE care to chime in? If they're not seeing this issue maybe it can be put back into Comcasts lap. |

1 edit | Nope, as it doesn't affect anything other than port 80 traffic. I can make TCP connections just fine to all of these sites, but as soon as I send an HTTP request, nothing comes back...
Connecting to the mail server on flickr.com works fine, but connecting to the web server does not. Something fishy is going on with filtering, which I don't like one bit. |

@comcast.net
| reply to jacktaw Can you ping pair.com?
If you get 4 replys back it could be a firewall issue. Check firewall by disabling.
Restart in safe - netwok mode...if you can get to pair.com you have a 3rd party software issue
Last resort do a restore to an earlier day before your problem |

Even my parents 50 miles away are effected on both their computers.

@Mojohand - It's not a firewall issue, as pinging flickr.com replys, and telnet flickr.com 25 works fine, too. I can connect on port 80, but I send data and nothing comes back.
Time to set up a proxy... |

@comcast.net
| reply to jacktaw Thanks Mojohand but it's apparently affecting like, um, the entire Comcast Network.. BUT WAIT - Maybe if we all restart together it'll send a message to the power company who could then relay the message to Comcast and then.. and then...
oman I'm getting punchy |
