Yeah. No matter which way it works out, unless we have more competition enter the market (Even if the Telcos get into the TV business it won't be enough competition) you can pretty much assume that consumers will pay more for less.

It's not really less if you didn't want it in the first place. I'd rather not have a steaming pile of manure dumped on my front yard.

Since we're going to pay more every year anyway, I'd be willing to bet that those who watch a sensible amount of TV (ie. do other things too) will pay less for a few years, until they gradually eek up the prices. Then they'll still be paying less than what the price hikes without the a la carte decrease would have been as well.
