Those 100 channels are going to be mostly a bunch of different local networks that not all customers will be able to access. 25 different markets with 4 locals per market = 100 hd channels. Whooo!
Those aren't the 100 channels they're talking about. DTV is already at the point (or close to it) with the local HD service.

The "license" taken with "over 100 channels" is that some will be subscription (NFL Sunday Ticket, etc). Will there be 100 channels for everyone to see? Absolutely not. Will there be SIGNIFICANTLY more than there is now? Absolutely.
Last time I counted, DirecTV had about 230 local HD channels up and running this month.

That's more than what I thought - but I suspected it was quite a significant number due to the number of DMA's served with "the big 3" networks. I didn't know just how many for SURE - hence the "or close to it" disclaimer.
