Warez_ZealotRural land of the rising sun join:2006-04-19 japan 1 edit | [NV] Cheap car rental. Does anyone know a place I can rent a car for 10-11 days while I am in NV? I am under 25, so I am looking for something cheap. It doesn't even have to be a major car rental company. The cheapest I could find was $500 for the 11 days at Alamo.
I was hoping that someone knew some car dealership that would be willing to rent for the 11 days for cheap w/ unlimited millage. I will likely be going to California and Arizona during the trip, so they have to be cool w/ that.
If someone is also willing to rent their car, I would be willing to do that too.

Heck, my lovely wife is lucky she's allowed to drive it, and she owns half of it. Yet despite this ... I drive it like a maniac. It's nice to be over-insured.
And so as not to derail this too much, I found this: »www.budgetvegas.com -- It's Budget car rental. I did a random search for May 10-22 and an economy car was $342 for everything (all taxes, etc.). That includes over $100 in misc. airport fees, sales tax, etc.
Unfortunately, that was before I added the "Under Age" surcharge, which is $180 ...
I tried "Rent-A-Wreck" but they don't have any locations here.
Maybe you will have luck with »priceline.com ? -- fnord )+( |

Warez_ZealotRural land of the rising sun join:2006-04-19 japan 2 edits | reply to Warez_Zealot Yep, I'm going to Vegas. But that is mostly b/c flights are cheap there. I'm going to school in MN, and graduating in may, going to show some friends around then flying home.
Well it was worth a try. I think $500 is about the best I can hope for. I am going to try a few other car rental places who have coupons, so maybe I can get a 10 - 25% off deals there. -- "You're not supposed to be so blind with patriotism that you can't face reality. | Yeah, being under 25 is going to be jack those rates up high ... Bummer.
Since you're coming to Vegas, you might be able to save a few days of rental. If you're staying on the Strip and plan to mostly play there or downtown, you can use public transportation, which is cheap and plentiful. Venturing a bit further, taxis as a decent alternative. (McCarren to the Strip is about $25 plus tip.)
If you plan to go further (such as Hoover Dam or getting some local flavor in Henderson or touring the Carroll Shelby Museum), renting a car isn't a bad idea. For some of the more common stuff, you might even be able to arrange for a tour with your hotel.
If you kind of plan the trip ahead of time, maybe you can use public transport/taxis for a few days, and then rent the car for a few. Plus, you'll have the bonus of not having to worry about parking, although that's rarely a problem here. -- fnord )+( |
