Instead of wasting UK citizens' tax money on BS, perhaps instead that government should look into the massive health problems with attracting vermin and disease that will result by collecting trash only once every 2 weeks. -- Only SHATNER is Kirk. |

| reply to pnh102 Interesting, because when they introduced the once a fortnight collection awhile ago (I head it on BBC Radio 1 via Sirius), they had stated that, if garbage was properly secured, there were no massive health issues or issues with rats. -- Prove it... |

Or is it only cell phones that have no biological affects? -- I am not lost, I find myself every time. |

There are no biological side-effects that come as a result of cell phone technology. None. Zero. Zip. Nada. -- Only SHATNER is Kirk. |

Holy shit. And I thought Pennsylvania had high traffic fines. a $200 fine for putting your trash out an hour early?

Hmmmm, ya know there could be a sales opportunity here. Just develop some kind of sunscreen "specially formulated" for protection from Wi-Fi and cellular radiation. I'm sure some of those suckers would buy it. -- There is a reason the wires are twisted together, it's called a pair. It defeats the whole purpose of twisted pair cabling by using the solid orange and solid green to wire the jack. |

| reply to pnh102 I don't see what the big deal is, radiation isn't bad for you. There are no studies linking radiation and cancer. Low/high power levels of radiation it's all the same. Just wondering wifi operates 2.4 GHz right? Doesn't the kitchen microwave operate at the same frequency? The only difference is power level dissipation. Also I am sure that the 2nd and 3rd harmonics don't cause any problems off of the original frequency. I can't see wifi being bad for you, it's only up to 30mW. The antenna is like only 12-24 inches away from your body when you use your laptop every days for years right.
I just wish these crazy people would stop with all this radiation crap. Maybe they should wrap themselves in tin foil.

My post was perfectly clear. There are no biological side-effects that come as a result of cell phone technology. None. Zero. Zip. Nada. So RF has biological affects but cell phones do not. I hate to break this to you, but cell phones work by radiated RF.
I have an office mate who is now a believer, she is now deaf in one ear (the cell phone side) as a result of a malignant tumour that grew on her auditory nerve. Her surgeon said that while there is no PROOF that cell phones cause this issue, he has seen a rise in various tumours in cell phone users (sorry I am not using the medical terms, but my Latin is atrocious).
As has been hashed over and over again in various DSLR forums, there are no OFFICIAL proofs that cell phones have any affect on humans. There are many SECONDARY stories and suppositions that cell phone radiation over a LONG period of time can cause an issue, but like the early days of radio, no one knows for sure, yet. -- I am not lost, I find myself every time. |

I find it interesting that all these studies have the caveat that even though cause-and-effect could not be established (despite rigorous testing) that should not be interpreted as concluding that no effects exist.
This is usually followed by a call for further testing and concomitant funding...ad infinitum. -- A is A |

Maybe they could have some locks that you put on the trash to keep it secure. There could be Model WEP, good for keeping the casual infiltrator out but able to be broken in under one minute, or the more secure Model WPA which keeps all but the most determined and well-financed penetrators at bay.
For general household trash the Model WEP is probably sufficient, but the Model WPA is suggested for those individuals and businesses that have more upscale trash worthy of the extra protection a better quality lock affords.

There are billions of people using cell phones. If there were any ill effects as a result of them, we would be seeing thousands, if not millions, of cases of such ill effects. How many years were how many people smoking tobacco products before the proof that tobacco caused health problems was officially recognized? How many (few) years have cells been in use in relationship to that time? Why do those of us working in an RF environment have exposure limits?
No, I do NOT know for a fact that putting a watt or two of near field microwave energy up against neurological tissue for a relatively long term will or will not cause problems. Just my training over the last 35+ years makes me leery of it. And as I said before, there are secondary stories like that of my co-worker's neurosurgeon who said he has seen a rise in certain tumours that MIGHT be related to cell phone use.
But this is getting off the topic of Wi-Fi, which is a totally different exposure level. -- I am not lost, I find myself every time. |
