Re: Should be SDSL
OK, one thing at a time. First of all, 56K modems are 33.6 up, and not 56. I never got 56K with a 56K modem. I used to connect at 46.6 most of the time, and sometimes at 48 and others at 44.3
I get most of the time 1.1-1.3 Mbps down with my PacBell 384/128 service, which makes me very happy. Uploads are between 94-104 Kbps which is still about 4 times higher than the 56K modem (due to TCP/IP protocol and other network overheads) and is equivalent to dual channel ISDN performance. All this for $39.95 a month. If you ever had to pay for ISDN you wouldn't be complaining, but would be very happy indeed. I would not want your idea at all, unless I was running web servers, but then I wouldn't run a web server on $39.95 a month.
