Wow, that is weak. They're better off with DSL and the cheaper rates.

Don't forget that electric customers are also subsidizing these rates. I'd hate to see what the "real" prices would be without that.

They operate under a very similar scenario as telcos. There is a heavily government regulated side and a for-profit side. The power they provide to customers is regulated. Fiber internet/telephone/tv is "for profit" and stands on it's own.

Of course BVU a few months back had a hard time getting customers to swallow that after a contract renewal raised their power rates and they passed them along to the customers.
