[Miami] Atlantic Broadband.... Stops Throttling Torrents?

newgame1978 posted : I live in South Beach, FL / Miami Beach, 33140.

I've been frustrated with only getting 20KBPS from Atlantic Broadband on my torrents for about 2 weeks now, and finally decided to other BellSouth, keeping ABB until the DSL was verified as working, as to not leave myself stuck without internet. From Bell, I was hoping to get 6MB, insteasd I qualified for 3MB, and the router is unable to train up to even 2MB.

I figure I can make some support calls and maybe a technician can see what's causing the issue (I used to be a DSL installer years ago, so I know to test at the demarc & blah blah).

So, I plugged back in my Atlantic Broadband connection. Bittorrent is in the startup on that computer and automatically loads (noting: I do have encryption enabled but not required within Azureus, this still gave me slow speeds) - and got a shock.

I'm downloading at nearly 300KBPS!?!? Impressive, as I'm on their 3MB plan.

So, is this a fluke that I shouldn't expect to last? Is it just me? Or, has anyone else noticed a speed difference in this type of traffic from them?

Would be interested in hearing from the rest of you!

Regards,

- John

jcy@nevermind.org
