Re: Finally, I got it.

Hi Ontarionet,

Connected directly is definately the way to go with this, there is little to no configuration necessary.

On the main DMT screen:
Enter 192.168.1.254 in the "IP-Add" field
The Port should be 23
Login Name: Administrator
Password:
by default that should do it then click the connect button and away you go

If you have any other questions feel free to PM me and I'll help you out

Rick

dmt needs to be either directly connected to you or on the ports or then the WAN port. As far as i could get it working so far.

the deafult ip is 192.168.1.254
login is Administrator with no password.
Hope that helps

Hey Ontarionet,

PM Rick... Not sure what time he's in today but if he's online in the AM he might be able to point you in the right direction as he's been fooling with it.

Could someone explain how to use that dmt program? What settings do you use? I cannot do anything with my modem when I'm using my router, also. So, the 192.168.1.254 doesn't apply for me yet. I use a Linksys so I use 192.168.1.1 when I need to fiddle with settings (as it applies to my router).

I also can't use the modem directly since I changed it to bridge mode. I was unable to change it back last time I tried so I kept it connected via the modem and I can go online with that so I left it.

If anyone can explain how to use the dmt program as well as the different options (modem directly v.s. modem/router), that would be greatly appreciated. I'm not sure why I'm having such problems. I don't have problems with the cable modem.

In the 'Connection Establishment' part of the screen, what settings go there?

IMO, you have to be patient. My line was crappy before. TS tried to set up my speed profile to 4000/800 when I signed up. It dropped to 3000/800 and then to 17xx/600. TS opened ticket twice, first time I had no luck, that Bell guy didn't do anything, but this time another Bell guy knew what I need, he swapped my line to another remote and I got almost perfect speed.

Sorry to interrupt the conversation but how does one get that stats screen?
On your modem?
Plug the modem directly into the computer
go to »192.168.1.254
click on Broadband connection on the left hand side
click on Internet Connection (under Broadband connection)
click on "Details" (on the upper right)
you should now see your line stats including attenuation and SN Margin

Oh yeah, after you get bumped to 5mbit don't forget to do rocky's contest.
You don't need to be at 5Meg... You can do the math against any profile.... If you can only get 1728/384 you can still do it... I'm doing the ratio count, not a speed count.

that's dead on...if bell swapped your line to be served from else where then they need to map it correctly. Opening a ticket for slow speeds and to update nar profile would definetly resolve both issues at the same time.
If you PM your details I can ensure to follow up on this in the am since.
