Re: [UD] All Good Things Come To An End...

My friends...I do not post much (well pretty much never anymore but I'm still here crunching!) but think about this...the UD project has proven the value of distributed processing. I am confident that this sort of validation will only spawn more distributed processing projects with the same aim. And it will only get better from here...with processor power increasing all the time, the level and complexity of what we can now accomplish is extraordinary!!

Good job to us all, and as soon as the next cancer project comes around we will all be at it again!!!

Take care and God Bless.

Might be a good time to re-quote myself earlier in this thread

I want you all to know that the Exec Board @ TDPH looked over some other cancer projects almost a year ago...
We gathered info, ran a few programs..tested the waters..in the eventuality something of this nature might occur. We found a few possibly acceptable cancer projects.

For now I'm urging folks to stick with our TSC Project

Wherever that discussion takes us..we'll go there together

I missed it by 2 days.. would have been crunching for 5 years on May 2, 2007. I was shocked at reading this post.. but will continue to look for something to put my cpu time to. Thanks everyone here, enjoyed the anniversary notes and birthday notes

I have also switched over to World Community Grid. Maybe a BBR team is an eventual possibility.

Well, this is sad news indeed. I don't post much in this forum but I do lurk, and its been an honor and a privilege crunching with you all on a cure for cancer. I'm really sad the projected ended before we upgraded our machines at work, these new Core 2 Duo's can handle a lot more than the old Pentium III and early Pentium 4's that we have now and I was looking forward to doing some serious crunching.

At the moment I am running folding@home, but I think worldcommunity grid is a good option to consider.
Thanks to this post, I checked out the World Community Grid last night and joined, and today began the work of shifting my company's workstations over to it. The highlight for me is that I can continue to use the UD agent, which means no significant time configuring and what not, just a few registry changes for the SRVANY service and I'm off to the races. I did check there for a BBR team but there doesn't seem to be one. Anyway, here's another vote for World Community Grid. I'm now crunching on Muscular Dystrophy, Genome Comparison, Help Defeat Cancer, and Human Proteome Folding 2. The war goes on.
