| Azureus Vuze - What do you think?
Having just gotten a Joost invite tonight, I got into the whole broadband video distribution craze that's been buzzing like a bee all over the web lately. This stuff has tons of potential, no doubt. I was particularly impressed with Joost, whose creators claim will revolutionize TV forever. After trying it out, I must admit they're on the right track to achieve that admittedly lofty goal. Not quite there yet, but I'll be damned if they're not headed in the right direction.
And then there's Azureus Vuze. It works quite differently from Joost, but it's awesome on its own. I had installed it once in the past and got rid of it quickly thereafter, not because I didn't like it.. but simply because I had no use for it then. Now that I've reinstalled it, I must say I really like it. Lots of sweet, sweet HD content on there, as well as standard def content. Download speeds are ridiculous too. This stuff is actually maxing out my connection, which means I download a lot of the popular videos at roughly 1.25MB/sec, speeds I never could or would have dreamed possible with torrents.
Has anyone tried this out yet? What do you think? I'm particularly impressed with download speeds. Of course content will only grow in time, but what's up there currently is already quite impressive IMHO -- www.opera.com/ -- As good as it gets in browser-land »last.fm -- Fuel the music revolution! www.pando.com/ -- Personal file sharing made ridiculously easy. www.trillianastra.com/ -- The next Trillian! |

| It's a good concept, but I'll wait until it becomes a lot better to use it. I'm in Canada and the content I can view is pretty limited. The only thing of interest at the moment is the G4 content that's available to me.
I would love the day when I can watch TV shows on the internet, even if it were for a reasonable fee. I hope Vuze can be successful and it can expand it's content . |

| Just took a look at Joost and it has a lot more content available world wide, which is a good thing it has going for it. I still think it needs to expand it's content though, the only channels of interest again were US only and those were pretty much the only US only content on the Joost.
I hope Joost (or Vuze) does become successful that way they have reason to increase content, especially make all content available worldwide. They obviously need licensing for some content, which is probably why it's only available to limited countries. |

Everytime i check the channel list there are more channels that have been added. When they are finished, they should have a good amount of channels for all countries. -- I found the key to success but somebody changed the lock. |

I don't know.. but honestly I don't care. I never use my computer while a P2P app is running. I just turn it on at night and let it use all the bandwidth and happily download whatever's queued. -- www.opera.com/ -- As good as it gets in browser-land »last.fm -- Fuel the music revolution! www.pando.com/ -- Personal file sharing made ridiculously easy. www.trillianastra.com/ -- The next Trillian! |
