1 edit | reply to mdrejhon well the line "can" handle a 4 meg profile with line errors. I have attempted this already. Bell knows that its capable of the old ultra 3 meg profile on fast path. But the reason they put me on interleave is to not fix the issue thats there.
Outside theres degradion caused by rust and bad maintenc. I do not know the amount of work required to fix it. I imagine they'd probally need to rerun the wire. I hope i do get a profile upgrade but im even happy at 3 megs . In the lines current shape it can handle 2410/800 or a 2640/800 profile.
I suspect that internally also there might be an issue bc the line stats get better when it rains. Like right now my snr dropped again! Instead of increasing :P. |

1 edit | reply to Angelo_ There are some similiarites between your and my line.
We are both using twisted pair phone wire (CAT3/CAT5) and your RCO is not much worse than mine, and your attenuation is only a few decibels worse than mine. The "channel characteristic" line is very flat. You do have 25+db of SNRM. Your stats show 0 errors (but how long did you hvae the modem running). My "attainable" is 4800 and yours is a lot lower, about 3800.
The cincher would be the SNRM -- you do have enough signal to attempt a speed upgrade -- but flux is going to be the killer. One bad weather day and your SNRM could nosedive, causing you to lose sync. However, Rocky probably can experiment with an upgrade to about 2Mbps or so. Just remember you're a member of the same club I'm in, where there's no guarantees... |

| reply to Angelo_ my stats vs adsl2+ seem off
Less than 1km should be 23-24 Mbit 1.0km = 13.81db = 23Mbit 1.5km = 20.7db = 21Mbit 2.0km = 27.6db = 18Mbit 2.5km = 34.5db = 13Mbit 3.0km = 41.4db = 8Mbit 3.5km = 48.3db = 6Mbit 4.0km = 56db = 4Mbit 4.5km = 62.1db = 3Mbit 5.0km = 69db = 2Mbit |

| reply to Angelo_ said by Angelo_ :i guess it's normal for bell not removing a line card for ex dsl users for the past year :P Sometimes they just don't remove it at all. At work I have a line that's been left on for over 2 years now after we cancelled bell business internet in favour of Rogers. 3008/800 only but its good enough when i need to leech a torrent or something, damn rogers throttling. -- GOLF LEAFS GOLF! | reply to Angelo_ said by Angelo_ :i can play with my internal wiring though to try to increase sync right? Sync will not increase, because the profile is currently set to 1184/160, but if your inside wiring is indeed affecting things, you will see your stats improve, SNR will rise and atten will drop. -- GOLF LEAFS GOLF! | reply to Angelo_ best bet to diagnose your inside wiring is to unhook all your inside wiring, and hook up the modem directly to where it comes in. if needed make a jack right there, if you dont have a demarc with a RJ-11 plug to disconnect your inside wiring. -- GOLF LEAFS GOLF! | reply to andyb said by andyb :Inside wiring will also make numbers climb so dont rule out its your wire's.Maybe a guy pinched one or two. Attenuation rarely lies though. Unless there's a huge loop inside the house somewhere... I once fixed a friend's line, Bell insisted he was only like 2km from the CO, but his atten was like 60dB and he couldnt get 3meg. Started tracing the lines inside his basement and we found a friggin SPOOL of wire stashed in the beams behind some shelves. it was like at least 200-300feet. His whole house ran thru that spool. I removed it and his atten dropped to 43dB and he was on 3meg in no time, and has since been on 5meg with no issues. -- GOLF LEAFS GOLF! | reply to The Flash said by The Flash :Something up with ur ATT, ur SNR is good though. Might be an internal wiring issue? Nothing is wrong, the sync is low so the SNR appears high. Remember SNR drops when sync is raised. So if his sync is doubled, the SNR will most likely plummet in half or more at that attenuation. -- GOLF LEAFS GOLF!
