On the other hand, isn't not getting attacked the whole reason for paying an extortionist not to attack your network?

Could it be that the number of actual DDOS attacks have decreased because the extortionists are actually being paid?

including how much they actually made per extortion..and where the botnets are today..and figures on how much they a grossing on the spam stuff and why spam really does make the money..and how much.
