Brief analysis

The real analysis is 8 years in the Russian gulag in 2005 sent most extortion hackers running for cover by mind 2006.

I also find it amusing the timing of the blog.
Mikko laid it all out and much more in his ITConversations
including how much they actually made per extortion..and where the botnets are today..and figures on how much they a grossing on the spam stuff and why spam really does make the money..and how much.

On the other hand, isn't not getting attacked the whole reason for paying an extortionist not to attack your network?

Could it be that the number of actual DDOS attacks have decreased because the extortionists are actually being paid?

Sometimes the glass is half full, somtimes it is half empty.
