| reply to Xec Re: [ Express] Speed Increases?
Have they increased it AGAIN? I'm getting ~8.3 mbit consistantly!

I think this is the highest express number here, couldn't get this before. Don't mind the upload, modem sucks. |

On 72.* ip block and by the looks of it not being throttled with torrents but since I rarely use them anymore it's hard to tell.

| reply to verve haven't posted for a while so its nice to have some praise for Rogers and the speed increase after all the speculation: now if they can only get around to upgrading the cable to 860 mhz I shall be really happy!
On speakeasy from Chicago yesterday I managed 7803 kb/s download -- truly amazing to me and shows what the network is capable of. |

@rogers.com | reply to verve hey guys if you call them as ask them to "push your account" it will work. it will deprovision your modem on the network then when it gets provisioned again, it will need to download the new config file.
and yes, this works in NB too! |

1 edit | reply to verve So I guess 7 Mbps is the new profile for Express? I always seem to be about 0.05 to 0.10 Mbps short of whatever the current limit is. Upload is increased too. BTW, I didn't do anything to the modem at all -- this just happened by itself in the last day or two, noticed it last night when doing a big download -- it was hitting about 850 KBytes/s

Indeed - funny that I get better speeds from NY than TO though..
Nice little boost on newsgroups tho - actually hit 985 KB/s for a bit... |

| reply to verve Anyone using the original Motorola SB5100 and getting the higher speed?
A promo girl for Rogers just came to my door about half an hour ago to see how our services are, and said that there were upgrades in the area. I power cycled the modem, but I'm still getting 6 on Extreme.

1 edit | reply to verve ORIGINAL MESSAGE..
I called Rogers tonight to ask about this speed increase, and why I wasn't seeing it. He had me remove my router from the equation. With my PC connected directly to the modem, I'm getting around 7.7mbps. So it looks like I do have the increase, as long as my router isn't being used.
I put the router back on, and my speeds are back down to around 5.5-6mbps.
It's a WRT54G using the DD-WRT v23 SP2 firmware. Anyone have any idea why it wouldn't give me the full speed? Anyone else using the same router with Extreme?
SOLUTION:
Bonehead move on my part. I had the QOS settings in the router config still set to the old max 6mpbs. I upped it to 8mbps and all is well now.
DUH.
