Re: [ Express] Speed Increases?

the new speeds are:

8000000/850000 (not the rogers business 8m/1.1m package)
7000000/512000
256000/64000

How come it seems to be 7.5 and 6.5 (respectively)? Just a case of not getting full advertised speeds with cable?

From a Rogers speedcheck:

Download speed: 6572032 bps

Upload speed: 485056 bps

to add to above, I still don't see speed increase, but my torrent speeds are at a record high. (normally was 10-20, it is peaking 140kb/s) .. not high, but in comparison.

Still getting nothing new on express. I'm in St. Thomas. Are they rolling this out incrementally?

Yea I just checked my download speed and I was shocked to see 950KB/s (7.5mbps) download speeds CONSISTENTLY! What an unsuspected surprise from rogers. Very happy about this!

My extreme speed is now in overdrive too. But the newsgroup provider I`m using (usenet-access)is frustratingly slow, I`m lucky to get 150Kb/s. Its like it hits a wall. Stops and starts and sputters along.

Which newsgroup provider and which software are you using?

Edit: Also for those that aren't seeing the new speeds, have you actually powercycled (reset) your modem? Simply unplug the power to your modem for 30 seconds then plug it back in. If you have a router, you'll need to unplug the power to the modem AND router. Wait 30 seconds then plug the modem in FIRST. Wait until all the normal lights are on (minus a PC or Activity light), then plug your router in.

This is of course if the speeds have been upgraded in your area

Got the upgraded speeds here but BT throttling is worse than ever.

No upgraded speeds in downtown Toronto so far.

Are you sure those new numbers are accurate, or are you just guessing? Because I'm not feeling that 850k upload. On 800k upload I always got... 800k. Now with 850k, I haven't seen anyone post above 815k (and that's what I'm getting).

I have a SB5120 Modem and a Linksys WRT54GS router. All I did was go to »192.168.100.1/config.htm and click on "Restart Cable Modem" and got the upgraded speeds immediately. Did not even have to restart my router or unplug anything.

Re: 3web from rogers

I thought this thread is about speed increase for EXPRESS, yet people are posting for EXTREME ? I am in downtown with EXPRESS and getting under 5000/362. No upgrade for me yet.

Express/Extreme tags don't particularly matter.

It seems to be on an area by area basis (as usual). Presumably you mean downtown Toronto? There is also downtown Ottawa, downtown Brantford, downtown London, downtown Kitchener ... you get the idea. It's always a good idea to state where you're referring to ... often the tag location under your name on the left is inaccurate (people sometimes put for example 90210, or me H0H0H0 (North Pole!)

Yeah, I originally tagged it as Express because that's the profile I'm under, but it's blossomed into a front page topic.

Hehe.
