Maybe they should skip the portal business, but if they do they start moving towards a dumb pipe provider.

I'm sure they scares their senior management.

Only a dumb pipe for Internet revenues. Most of their earnings still come from their video/TV business which is all content. So the dumb pipe argument only applies to a relatively small part of their total revenues.

For now at least....

We seem to be heading to an "on-demand" model which could dramticly reduce traditional advertising revenue. I suspect Comcast sees this coming as well.

Good point. Now and 10 yrs from now can be very different playing fields.
