| [Update] Gadwin PrintScreen 4.0 Why, easily and efficiently grabs screenshots, is what it does!
"What is Gadwin PrintScreen?
Want to create a screenshot suitable for saving or printing? Then just hit a key on your keyboard. Oh yeah, you'll have to download this program first.
There are several hotkey combos to choose from (PrintScreen is the default). Once you've chosen your favorite combo, head to the Destination tab and have the screen print out instantly, copy the capture to the clipboard, save it to a specific folder, or even send it through e-mail. You can perform full screen captures, or only capture a specific window. There are also six different image formats to choose from, and each one can be resized. With all the customization capabilities, what more could you ask for?"
Changelog: ------------------- - The software has been enhanced to become more user-friendly. - Compatibility with Windows Vista has been improved. - Image quality has been greatly improved for all graphics drivers. - Multimonitor support has been enhanced. -------------------
Not to mention a pleasing, lovely new interface! And it's free! Tough to believe I know, yet true!
It's available here: »www.gadwin.com/printscreen/
The instructions say to uninstall any previous version first, but I 'pounded on top' without issue, as I recall dadkins did successfully with the previous version also. Just a point of info. |

Installed right over the old version just fine.
Had to readjust some settings afterwards but that is about it.
Great program. |

I used to tend towards uninstalling the old first. But these days, so much is updated so often, anytime I can save a step-- I do. |

or, just hit the PrtSc key and Gadwin does the rest. -- Think outside the Fox... Opera |

| reply to PhoenixDown said by PhoenixDown:Aside from image formatting, why not just hit alt+printscreen to get a picture of the currently active window? You can re-size with this, or bypass the clipboard. Nothing super-special. It just makes grabbing screenshots quick & simple, with some options. That's about it, I guess. |

Mele20Premium join:2001-06-05 Hilo, HI kudos:4 | reply to AB Anyone know if this fixes the nVidia bug? I had to go back to version 3.1. I reported the bug with extensive documentation TWICE to Gadwin and never got any reply. I'm reluctant to try this version and have it still interfere with nVidia's taskbar transparency. I'm totally hooked on that and I won't run anything in the systray that kills the transparency on a permanent basis and that is what PrintScreen was doing with 3.5 version. Version 3.1 does not interfere with transparency. I've tried to use Faststone instead but I don't like it nearly as much as Gadwin. -- "If you want to do DRM on a PC then you need to treat the user as the enemy." Mele20Premium join:2001-06-05 Hilo, HI kudos:4 1 edit | Well, I tried it. It ruins nVidia taskbar transparency. I had to uninstall it and go back to version 3.1.
I also didn't like the new GUI. The older GUI is much nicer because it conforms to my Desktop theme. The new GUI is out of place looking and garish too.
I guess it is for Vista as the GUI looks Vista like not XP like. -- "If you want to do DRM on a PC then you need to treat the user as the enemy." Ross Anderson in "`Trusted Computing' Frequently Asked Questions"

Not so much as being too cheap, just do not need all SnagIt's features to warrant its price -- especially when FastStone Capture Provides the two important features I need in a screen capture app, drawing/text tools to annotate and "Capture Scrolling Windows". |
