pipdipchip : Yes, I wasn't watching TV last night but this happened to me all the time last year and I hate it. In theory it's a good thing. However, I can't say its ever successfully changed the channel and stayed on it. It either locks up for a moment or flickers the Weather Channel and then returns to a normal program. At the same time, completely ruining any DVR recordings. First off, why the Weather Channel? It's a nationwide channel with little local focus. Normally all you'll get it the same scrolls you get on the local news channels. I'd rather it changed to KARE-11 or another local affiliate who actually have information on severe storms. I've always thought a little pop-up at the bottom of the screen would be a much better idea. It wouldn't need to change the channel, screw up recordings, information would be guaranteed, and you can exit the pop-up whenever you wanted.
--
Webmaster of WRT54G.net - Official Microsoft MVP Longhorn Beta Tester

cchur : Last night we had storm warnings in the area and instead of the crawler along the bottom, comcast signals were going nuts. I think that they were trying to switch to the weather channel. It didn't record but the weather channel people couldn't have known they were on live. Joking and adjusting heights etc. I have 5 recordings of each of the two shows that were set to record. Now for the question... Is this something new? Can they really change the channels away from the local HD channels to the Weather channel? Shouldn't the Weather channel be aware that this is happening and get their act together? Does this happen in other areas?

Chuck
