Changing from Subnet Classes to the Classless Routing (CIDR) helped save a ton of addresses, along with the aforemented policy changes and rise of NAT. This is common knowledge and is correct. However, IPv6 will be wide-spread prior to some estimates of 2020 simply due to "marketing hype" etc. Let's not forget that's what primarily drives the digital industry. Need is secondary and that is only what sparks the "new" innovations to be developed/created, the rest is marketing and $$. Per Korys' statement, it's already being used as a marketing tool, although in a different context than what I mentioned. In respect to Koryms' concerns, it is just another marketing tool that the provider is marketing on Aaron |
