[7-9] Any experience with XPostFacto?

I'm trying to run XPostFacto on an old ass PowerMac 9500 in order to get OS X on the machine. I've upgraded the processor to a 400Mhz G3 and upgraded the RAM and Video Card to an ATI Rage 128.

The problem I'm running into is with XPostFacto, which won't recognize my internal SCSI drive as a bootable disc. I don't know if perhaps because I have to partition the disc first or something? Any help much appreciated.

I've used XPostFacto a couple times on my 9500. I remember there being some sort of issue with SCSI. You might want to slap an ATA card in there if you're serious about running OS X.

Here's some FAQ for ya:
If you have a G3 or G4 upgrade card, try using version 2.2b3 or later of XPostFacto. It permits you to "throttle" (i.e. slow down) the processor for the early part of the boot process, which sometimes helps with this problem. If that doesn't work, here are a few other things you can try. On some machines, you can connect the internal drives to an extra SCSI connector on the motherboard that uses the external bus. Of course, this is not ideal because the external bus is slower on these machines. Another solution that has worked for some users is to change the "Disable Unit Attention" jumper on the drives. This affects the way that the computer "wakes up" drives on the internal bus at boot time. Another thing to double-check would be termination issues, which can vary depending on the other devices attached to each bus (e.g. the internal CD-ROM). Finally, one user reports success installing on a SCSI drive at ID 0, when installing on a driver at ID 1 had failed.
Are you saying XPostFacto in OS 9 wont recognize the disk? Or it won't start up once you select it?

I got it going by reformatting the drive with partitions. thanks so much.

Is the SCSI Drive bigger than 8GB? OS X has to be located inside the first 8GBs.

Either way, you got it working .

The SCSI drive is only 2GB total. 2 partitions...one about 285MB for OS9 and the other about 1.7GB for OS X. Now I've got to get a hold of an old OS X 10.2 install cd....I sold mine years ago.
