Another message from Emily's mother (and aunt):
Emily has eaten, drank and been up to the potty today. She took two stops on her own! We are very proud of her. She is soooo brave.
Her last request before surgery was to have skittles in the red bag and today she actually ate skittles on her own. She insisted on holding the bag herself. She has also had some chicken nuggets and a donut. It's not that we're turning her into a junk-food junkie, but anything we can get her to eat will stimulate her bowels to start moving.
When her tummy started hurting (a.k.a. gas) we had a lively conversation about 'farts' and she actually giggled. Hey--if someone could get some 'flarp' at WalMart I bet she could get a real good charge out of that!
Emily said she would like people to come visit her. She said "Thank-you" for all the cards and gifts. That's about all she has energy for now.

In my case however, I was in the hospital for only three days after heart surgery and every nurse on the floor was trying to help me out the front door..................
