There really was no appropriate way for this to end. I liked Adelphia and they gave me good service and the techs on this board were great. But if it must end, a beer thread is the way to do it.

Tell that to the nice lady in my local office who lost her job because Comcast shut down that office. :(

That office was a way to bypass the call centers and tell a tech directly what problem you were having. Way better CS than a call center.

Fortuneately I still see the local manager at lunch around the area, so worst case I can track him down around noon.

Sly : The service I have was through Adelphia but they got bought out by Comcast... So technically I still have Adelphia equipment on my line but I reeaaly don't think I would get much help from them if I called them up for a chat...

Kypappy : This area was bought out from Frontier Cable shortly before the bankruptcy of Adelphia. Shortly afterwards, a complete upgrade to fiber was began and the system has been rock solid ever since. Of course, there has been a few "burps" but that is going to happen anywhere on any system. Even after a severe ice storn in '03, with the cable laying on the ground for miles, when the power came back on after six days, the system worked. The only thing different with TWC is a slight loss in upload speeds, but they cap their speeds lower than Adelphia did. Spam does seem to be a bit more so lately. My big regret in the change over is the loss of the excellent service and advice of the "techs" on this forum, especially Hob and Mac. It seemed they were always on top of any problems no matter what or where and were always there to help. Not to belittle the other people who helped, but these two seemed to help the most. Although I prefer black label to blue label, "Here's to Hob".

BurntCricket : Back in the old days Ameritech Techs were prohibited(in fact if you even mentioned DSLR while on a call it was like you just asked to have sex with their Mom) from helping here(some still did on the sly) now there is a Direct Forum. I don't understand why official Techs should be prohibited from helping here saving a support call when MOST problems are in fact on the users end and some of those that are on the providers end could be fixed straight away without a support call - "I can take a look when I go in and see what's up", "You need to change your EMail settings - the servers have changed", etc..

Part of the problem is the way the company is organized. In Adelphia there was centralized support, TWC support is broken out into regions.

So I can only see people in Buffalo....not anywhere else.

Okay. So if tech were allowed to post, then perhaps they could choose who to respond to and help depending upon the OP location. If many techs were able to respond, then it should help cover most of the area.

To me, it just seems more logical to let techs post help online as well as in their call centers. Many calls can be eliminated by this.
Just think of how many people wher helped here in the Adelphia forum. Who came for help rather then calling. I realize the amount of posters here are less then a few % of what would be calling, but still. That little bit helps.
But again. This is only my opinion, not a rant.

Back in the Adelphia days, this forum was alive with people looking for help. Adelphia didn't mind techs posting here, so it was even better to have REAL ADELPHIA TECHS post here.
I know Road Runner/Time Warner doesn't allow their tech to post at BBR. Which I find real sad because it is allot of help.
How may Adelphia users where helped by a tech on line?
How many people bitch about lack of help in Road Runner or Comcast forums?
The idea not to allow techs to post seems real stupid to me.

charrog : Sigh...fond memories of the "triangle" and 65% packetloss those were the days this forum was cranking then things got better and the posts slowed down. Having said that there were some real interesting threads back then the Hicker/Hob debates and also some guy named Web something(maniac) who always seemed to liven up the pot.It has been an interesting 6 years kind of sad to see it go.So here's to the ole Adelphia forum in all it's finest.
