[Telephone] Fax over Charter telephone?

Is it possible to use a traditional analog fax machine over charter's telephone service?

Thanks

Faxing over VoIP is not for the heavy user, but many people both receive and send faxes after making a few adjustments that will help make it more stable. You should make sure your account is set to use a non-compressed codec (G711), not G729 or "bandwidth saver". Next, set the transmission speed of the fax to a BAUD rate of 9600 and disable ECM - error correction mode. You can read more about faxing over VoIP here: »www.voipmechanic.com/faxingissue···ices.htm

If your fax machine is pulse dialing only, your screwed. Charter's, and probably about all VOIP, don't like pulse dialing. It's generally tone dialing only.

When I worked in telephone, there were also problems with some of those re-direct systems where faxes go to your PC, etc.

You can fax over charter, it's not a traditional voip line. It is only voip from your home to the head end which means that the line is alot more stable that Stand Internet Voip..

I had no problem with modem based services like Fax / Tivo / Etc...
