I think it is VERY understandable to be skeptical of anything of this nature on the net (i.e. email address exposed) otherwise we wouldn't have sites like snopes. I also think it is pretty darn bone headed to say something negative i.e. "fake, scam, email harvesting etc" when all it takes to verify its authenticity is about the same amount of time it takes to write a possibly rude post filled with ASSumption.
I was here at DSLreports long before I joined... and when I joined I did because of the sense of community..... a family of geeks if you will. It sure is nice to see a lot of those family members that have taken the time to encourage one of our own that is going through tough times.
I'm not sure about the rest of you.... but I would rather be known as the guy that falls for a soft hearted fake story now and then compared to the harda$$ that is never willing to be vulnerable in reaching out to others... just because it might be fake.
Hang in there kasparov33 and thanks for the update.... helps us know what to specifically pray for.

thanks for all the emails so far.its very understandable to be skeptical as with all the viruses and what not that goes on. but just keep telling your friends to send the emails and i will try to update with more info tomrrow. |

Done. It might be fun for Micheal to see where all these emails are coming from. Maybe kasparov33 can put a large map up on his wall and they can plot where they come from? (Just remember to put your state/country in your email to him.)

thats a great idea. i will do that. hopefully i can get more emails and myself and my son can fill up the map with stick pins. the doctors said that he may be able to come off the ventilator and they may bring him out of his drug induced coma by thursday or so. if all goes well thats the plan and i hope so. thanks for all the emails and send more. i will have a more thorough post on whats going on later tonight after i get home. have a great one and a better one tomorrow. |

today my son was taken off the dopamene medicine. this medicine is used to help keep up the blood pressure. the doctors said that he was stable enough. also they lessened his versad medicine. this medicine is what they use to keep him in a drug induced coma so he doesnt try to pull out his chest tubes and ventilator tube etc. this caused him to be a tad more alert and he opened his eyes a little more. he also nodded his head once when his mom asked him if he was ok. the doctors said they are happy with the progress so far and arent going to do another chest scan until friday. when the docs are happy we are happy. small steps as the docs say and i hope we continue to take more of them. thanks from all for the posts and emails. people we never even met or talked to are nice enough to send email. thank you all, keep the emails coming and i will post more as i get the time. have a great one and a better one tomorrow. |

1 edit | Don't let your patience get the best of you. My son was in The NICU for two weeks when he was born and they could not figure out what was wrong. So of course my patience wore thin after the first week and I blew up at the doctors. In your situation your son needs your strenght. I agree with taking baby steps but don't let them take preemie steps either. When we finally found out what was wrong with our son (Down Syndrome)I could not handle the news. So I have an idea of what you are going through even though your story is a 10 on the scary scale. Keep the family together throughout this whole process you will be greatfull in the end. thanks so much. no i am very pleased at the doctors and nurses on the picu floor. incredible people that really care and are very careful on how to proceed with each step in fighting this. he was taken off the ventilator today. the doctors said today that they are very surprised and amazed at how much progress he has made in 1 week. the doctors and nurses said that he is progressing much better than they had anticipated at all. thats great but i am not jumping to conclusions but only taking things each day and making sure i get done the things i need to at home and also away. my wife is spending the rest of the week at the hospital with him then i am going to spend 1 week with him at the hospital. i am almost certain that a friend of mine is getting him an xbox 360 elite with some games for when he returns to a regular room. well thats it for now but maybe even better next time. que tengo la buen dia. |

doctors said he may be put into a regular room from icu in about 2 or 3 more days. they said he has progressed very well. being very careful though. he is still stable from the treatments and hopefully only gets better. i will post more when it becomes available. thank you all who have posted and sent emails. keep em coming. thanks. |
