because of the sense of community..... a family of geeks if you will. It sure is nice to see a lot of those family members that have taken the time to encourage one of our own that is going through tough times.

I'm not sure about the rest of you.... but I would rather be known as the guy that falls for a soft hearted fake story now and then compared to the harda$$ that is never willing to be vulnerable in reaching out to others... just because it might be fake.

Hang in there kasparov33 and thanks for the update.... helps us know what to specifically pray for.
Can I get an AMEN. Prayer and email sent.

kasparov33 my thots are with you. i am a quadriplegic after being run over by an 18 wheeler. so i know what "sudden misfortune" is.
but i can also atest to the power of ATTITUDE. i never accepted my disposition. and now, not only can i breathe unassisted, but i walk. and not just walk. i travel the country in my rv year round.
a feat my doctors just do not understand. they've tried to explain it medically, but can't. my family calls it a miracle. i call it attitude.
be honest with michael and tell him that yes it's scary, but you are going to be right there with him. let him know he is not alone.
your love is going to get him thru this.

Email sent (with location also). Keep strong for your son, although it doesn't sound like he needs it much (he sounds like he is already strong enough to lick this thing!)

We'll keep your family in our thoughts and prayers around here!

my son has been moved from icu to a regular room. this hospital must love his insurance because they moved him into one of only 2 suites on the whole floor. the room has internet access games systems and a huge couch for his dear old dad here to sleep on. they are also removing one of his chest drain tubes today. they are surprised at how hungry he has been. today for breakfast he had 2 helpings of sausage, tater tots and bacon. he is not using a catheter anymore either. and thanks for the emails so far but lets keep them coming when you folks have the chance. also let your friends know to send them too. he has a huge stack in his room and the nurse who prints them off said she had never had 1 person to receive so many emails. my son and i are going to watch my favorite movie of all time later today. the 1978 version of dawn of the dead. well anyway got to go to the parking deck and smoke a cig. to all of you here my gratitude is never ending. i shake each and every one of your hands. thanks and remember emails, emails and more emails. thank and hope you all the the mega millions lottery.

today my son and i traveled around the hospital. i pushed him around in the wheelchair to see the sites so to speak. i brought his modded xbox from home so we could play some medal of honor and rainbow six together. i also brought my laptop to use at night when he is asleep. the doctors took out the chest tube on his left side because the drainage had almost completely quit. the chest tube on his right side will be in there for a bit longer because that is the side where the cancer is located. at least he is eating quite a bit every day. his hair has started to thin and come out just a little bit. i guess when i go home for the weekend friday i will go ahead and shave my head bald. this sucks because i have big ears and with no hair that is only going to make them BIGGER. oh well its for a good cause and i will get to see what i am going to look like in 20 years or so when i go bald anyway. well enough rambling for now. hope everyone has a great day and keep the emilas coming. later all.

I added this to digg. I hope we don't crash the hospital servers, or kill to many trees.

All the best to your son, and everyone else who is sick or suffering out there in this big wide world.

Virtual hugs for you all.

my son got his other chest tube taken out friday afternoon. since then he says that he feels a lot better because he doesnt have to sleep on his back only like he has had to do for the last month. i tried to imagine having to stay in bed for a month and can only try to rest on your back . and to rely on others to roll you over and change your bed sheets. and clothes. my wife worked for 8 years as a cna2 and that has helped immensely. she or i almost always changed his sheets and so forth. although the first time i did it by myself my son had to explain in detail what mommy said to do. i listened and followed instructions and it worked out fine. anywho small steps as the doctors say. a very long road ahead indeed. i will let you all know more when i can. thanks again for the replies and emails to my son. send another round when you get the chance and have your friends do the same. have a great day all and a better one tomorrow.
