FiOS isn't a cure-all for anything, especially for those outside Verizon's service area.
All this FiOS fanboyism reminds me of the pre-capped OOL days when everyone was comparing everything to OOL..."Well my OOL is 10Mb, uR teh suk". Sure, great if you can get OOL.

I agree with what you are saying. I predict that a vast majority of comcast customers will be on 3.0 before FIOS is deployed nationally. Mainly because of the cost.

Only thing docsis 3.0 is going to do is enable providers to load even more subs on a node.

Fiber will eventually be necessary but that is a long ways away. HFC networks are more than capable of handling bandwidth needs for at least the next 10 years, probably longer.
