Thats not true here with optimum online as long as you have atleast the 5120 or that webstar modem you can get 30/2 speeds wich are docsis 2.0 these modems are what cablevision has been giving out for atleast the past year or too to everybody.

We are talking about Comcast's network though. Comcast has said they aren't deploying 2.0 at all and I do know the modems are backwards compatible.

when comcast has introduced higher speeds when has it ever been accompanied by a new higher priced package?

Comcast HSI rates have not changed in years and there is no reason to think that will change now.
