Where's the comparison

quote:
By comparison, Verizon is spending some $23 billion on their FTTH FiOS deployments.
AT&T is just spending $1.4B MORE, not total. I wonder how much AT&T is spending total to deploy U-Verse.

well according to the article they are spending $6.5B, so a little less than 1/3 what Verizon is spending. In the end they will probably wish they had just finished the job and gone all the way to the curb...

Verizon has spent 20 Biilllion dollars (pinky raised to mouth) for less than 7 million homes past (not customers)...

They have plans to get to 18M homes past. That additional spending is incremental on top of 20B.

Lot-o-$$ from those stock holders.

The $6.5B is only through the end of next year. Certainly they will be deploying long past that.

Where exactly do you see this 20 B already spent? No where do I see already spent. 20B is for the entire rollout.

The difference is Verizon is spending their money wisely to invest long-term and in a future proof solution.

While at&t is IMHO wasting a lot of this money on a stop-gap measure that probably in the near future won't measure up to Cable and the likes of Verizon (and others) (If it even measures up now!) and in the end at&t will have to spend even more money to go back and finish the job.
