| forget the technology for a second.. there is NO rush by the companies to raise the speed caps just yet... they are more interested in getting the technology in place "just incase" their competitors jump before they do.. raised speed caps are inevitable but not necessarily the TOP priority at current prices. just as $4 gasoline doesn't phase or even shock people anymore so will higher cable/telcom bills be the norm (just at a much slower rate increase than gasoline) and THAT'S when consumers will say, Hey, what's in it for ME? higher price~better speed will go hand-in-hand. by the time 100/100 megabits rolls around consumers will probably be paying around $100 just for internet due to inflation. 1996-2004 (when it was promised) versus 2008-2016 which is more the reality for cable companies and telco companies to be capable of delivering said service... (the reality)
Until the beta test pissing contest goes into full scale deployments, it's all just smelly urine. |
