Re: There's a reason democracies can only last for so long I don't think it's so much the concept of "right to know outweighs the need for national security" but more that we need to trust our government that the information they withhold TRULY is in the interest of national security and not just because they F*'d up or could be embarrassed.
The current administration has not shown itself to be very trustworthy. Hence the suspicion about 'national security needs' would seem to be completely justified.
