I grew up in Wilkes-Barre and the place is a stagnant wasteland. I seriously doubt this will improve anything. But kudos to them for trying. |

Stagnant waste land, that's being way to nice. It's a open cesspool of low income people, elderly, moron cops, criminals who rule the streets and a very corrupt courthouse.
I live within the seven mile distance to pick up the WIFI signal but I am not interested.
Tom Greco is still dreaming about putting fiber optics in the old steam pipes that run underneath the streets of Wilkes Barre. What are they going to do next, give every drug dealer a laptop so they can buy and sell drugs on public square. --

I live in Wilkes-Barre and I'm not low income, elderly or a moron cop. How come I don't get a group to fit into?

It's safer than Allentown, has more of a community feel than the Lehigh Valley, more opportunity than areas like Hazleton and Williamsport, and doesn't have the traffic problems of Stroudsburg. Sure, Public Square has some goofy people walking around while the buses are running, but it's still better than Scranton, Hazleton or Reading. |

I live in the Mayflower section, far away from the crime ridden streets of the down town area.
I moved into this area from Connecticut and went through a time warp of about ten to fifteen years.
I hate the CommonWealth of Pennsylvania and plan on moving out of this backwards state by the end of the year. --

Hello, lets stay overnight in a train car that suppose to be a motel.
I said it before and I will say it again, this wireless network is only going to benefit Wilkes Univeristy and King College.

I see you have not been to Philly or Pittsburgh lately. That description easily applies to every city of every state.
I doubt this will benefit Wilkes or kings college. Its an excuse to implement "safety precautions" by using wireless cameras to spy on John Q Public. -- Its the Democrats fault. I lived it. I'm originally from Pennsyltucky. And I can tell you that everything north of Philly and east of Pitt may as well be Alabama. BTW, the condition of where you live is irrelevant. It could be paradise, but you couldn't pay me to return to PA. Your state government is run by a bunch of illiterate dumbasses who still think the year is 1940 and your fellow citizens are just as dumb because they keep putting the same illiterate dumbasses back into office. -- The Toll

Apparently its no different than your state government and fellow citizens. All government is corrupt from top to bottom.
Speaking of illiterate, all your family members or relatives remaining in PA are just as illiterate as the next person no exceptions.
That a boy sport, nice inflated ego you show in an attempt to insult 3 states. Hey ass-hat, since your out of PA, stay the frog out of PA. I hope you never come back, Liberals need not apply.

| reply to rf_engineer As one born in Wilkes-Barre and raised in Kingston who has since lived all over North America, I can state that it was a good place to grow up (in the 50's and 60's when the dress factories were humming away). Now, as I return to visit, I see a depressed, run down area in the rust belt with few jobs (unless you are in the medical community)and a failing infrastructure. That said, anything that the current residents can do to "awaken" the community, such as free wi-fi in the downtown area, can only be a positive for the community. |
