There is more going on here than meets the eye.
The winner of the bid for the WI-FI Free Wilkes Barre is none other than Frontier Communications. In case you have forgotten, Frontier (aka Citizens Communications) just bought out Commonwealth Telephone (CTCO), THE PHONE COMPANY (ILEC) in Wilkes Barre!!! This is the equivalent of Verizon deploying municipal WI-FI in Scranton where they are the ILEC.
This explains many things about the bid including why Wilkes Barre only needed 10 days from the time of the bid announcement until the bid was awarded. Anyone smell a deal that was cooked and a foregone conclusion before the IFP was even announced? |
