Re: I support Comcast..

Not all of us live in Fremont (I'm in quiet, peaceful Redwood Valley, about 8 miles north of Ukiah) We go to the theater in Ukiah or Willits, both nice. I also don't think the world is quite as bad as you make it out to be, sure, there's some jerks, but there are a lot of nice people too. Besides, people need more reason to get out in the world, not stay at home.

Edit-Not all of us have HDTV yet either, and even when we do get it, I doubt I will able to afford the sound or the size of screen they have in theaters It's just nice to get out, and I agree, movies are overpriced, but theaters have been expensive for year now, so it's nothing new.

You know what's funny.. and do you know what the beauty of all of this is??

The funny part: it's that people are fighting over what's better; in the theater? or in the home. Yet people are insulting each other in this thread, and people are thinking and talking about their own world, and not the concept in general.

The beauty? is that no one would force you to do either one or the other.

It's great that we live in a country where we are not forced to all live our lives the same way. So, if comcast gets this and you don't like theaters and want it in your home - GREAT! Pick up that remote! And if you like the movie going experience...same thing! Pack up the car, or take yourself, stop by the bank on the way and daily-limit out your card and go for it! Knock yourself out!

It's America!

(I just can't believe the back and forth on this topic.. and to the level at which some people are getting defensive about one way or another.)

Sounds like you're taking sides on the matter as well. Lets be honest. There are benefits and downsides to both methods. The home experience would only be good if you have an excellent entertainment system or don't care about quality. The theater experience would only be good if the social element doesn't interfere with enjoying the movie (and if the price of admission is justified).

It's good that there will be options, but I'm not all that keen on the "gotta have it now" crowd demanding newly released movies at home on the spot. A little patience and you can buy the DVD or see it on Cable in just a few months. Still if people want to spend $20+ for the privilege to watch a movie at home without the ability to record it and such then more power to those overly eager folks.

You're right, it is America, where we have the right to debate and discuss in freedom Well, unless it's not agreeing with Gwubh, then you're labeled "un-American"
