| AT&T Uverse inside info Checking in from Santa Clarita. My girlfriend currently sells AT&T at a local mall, and its getting installed today. We got the U300 package + elite DSL, and its about 100 and change a month + 2 months free, and free HD line-up for 12 months + free HBO for 2 months.
Thats a hell of a deal, and all the nay-sayers can bite me: FiOS wasn't available in our area, and all that was left was either satellite or cable. I did a few tests on the cable internet in our complex (through...ahem...wireless) and was getting about 5.8 mb down/.8 mb up, during the middle of the day on a Friday. By 6pm, it was down to about 1.5 mb down, and 200 kb up.
As for the TV package, It pretty much covers everything but HBO, and thats free for awhile, and we can pay for it when we want it. The free router and 2x free DVR boxes on top of that, plus a 50 dollar service install thats refunded through a 50 dollar visa card. Its win, win, win.
From her connections through AT&T (they contract out her company) - I hear the DL/UL speed is going to get boosted within the year. They are LOSING money at the moment on the installation and TV services. |
