What is wrong with letting the consumer decide?

Why should the theatres be concerned that I have a crappy experience at home instead of a crappy experience at their theatre? Let those people who don't mind sitting in the sticky mess go to the theatre, and let those who prefer to watch at home do so. Already, more and more families are just waiting for the DVD to come out anyway. Let the consumer decide and NOT someone with a vested interest. Frankly, I haven't gone to a theatre in over 5 years. I don't even care about the delay in getting to see a picture while waiting for the DVD. I don't spend that much time jabbering about movies with friends and relatives that it has to be seen just as it hits the theatre anyway. Perhaps if the kids were still around I would be talked into going to the theatre more often. Thank God that is over! Long live the empty nest. Now let me go grab a martini and watch a movie....
