that would be a server and against the TOS and AUP..... So insight is well within there rights to limit you. Time to get a 2.5" HD and take it to work this is what I do now for this very reason |

Even though you can configure said server so only you can access it?
I am glad I live in a region covered by an ISP with no such restriction. Cheaper than cable, too. -- Norman ~Oh Lord, why have you come ~To Konnyu, with the Lion and the Drum |

No prohibition of servers. 2GB mailboxes per email account. Up to 500 disposable email addresses per email account I've never needed more than 1.5 Meg down. I am not quite certain how I am getting "less" service.
It isn't a matter of "forgetting" anything; I know what I am getting. I know that it isn't worth the extra $30 per month I'd pay to double my download speed. -- Norman ~Oh Lord, why have you come ~To Konnyu, with the Lion and the Drum |

DOUBLE YOUR SPEED? last time I checked 1.5+1.5=3 I have 10meg service that runs at 12meg which is 8 times faster than yours. So I do get more and I have 1 gig of email storage which is more than enough considering I store my email comp side. Last I checked att was selling there 1.5 dsl for 19.99 which is only 10bucks less. And ATT does monitor for some servers it is in there aup. |

I am paying $17.99 per month for "at&t Yahoo! HSI, Pro", which is 3008kbps/512kbps. After ATM overhead, about 2,500kbps down. Comcast only offers 4 Meg service for "naked" cable HSI, at $56.95 per month. Last I checked, 4 Meg is a tad short of double 2.5 Meg.
Comcast is all there is for cable HSI around here, and getting cable HSI plus Basic TV, while getting me their 6 Meg package, also means paying $13.41 for TV service I will never use; the landlady won't unhook her DirecTV, and I don't watch enough to run cable to my own set.

I am surprised that Insight is so cheap. Given what people are paying for Comcast, TWC Road Runner, and were paying for Adelphia before it went under, I was under the impression that cable HSI was on the order of $40 per month, and up.
No 16M service in Comcast regions not going head to head against Verizon FIOS, AFAIK.
Oh, BTW, isn't Insight the company that sold off some of its holdings to Comcast? -- Norman ~Oh Lord, why have you come ~To Konnyu, with the Lion and the Drum |
