| Smokeping results, thumbs up/down??
I checked the FAQ's and couldn't find the proper place to post this question about smokeping results, so I'm sorry if this is the wrong place.
Question, does my smoke ping result look Great, Average or Bad? It's been running a little more than 14 hours as of this post. »/r3/smokeping.···16ac447f

I took a screen shot before I stopped the smoker. It's a 14Hour test. | There's no real drops in the connectivity. It is showing packet loss though. You're on Cable not DSL right? Try bypassing the splitter on the Coax cable if there is one. If that gives you less packet loss, buy a new splitter (silver one, gold splitters = bad). |

| reply to axelrose Here's mine... Any thoughts? For the past three weeks, we've been getting lots of dropouts. Results are hanging XBox games, and getting connection errors in Battlefield 2 (on two separate PCs). I've power-cycled everything, even upgraded the firmware on my router... when that didn't help, I bought a new router (different brand), but to no avail.... still getting occasional lagginess and connection errors in games. (Been running fine for 2 years with none of these issues until now)

| reply to axelrose said by axelrose :GOLD is more conductive than Silver, why silver over gold? Yes it is more conductive than silver, but unless the coaxial cable the splitter is connected has the same materials (core and shielding), it mismatches the impedance resulting in quality loss. Since the coaxial cable leading into your home from the cable company does not have gold shielding or core....the silver splitter is better. |

Can this alleged difference be measured using an Ohm meter ? Yes, that's exactly what you should use to measure the difference. If you do go ahead and test it, let me know the results please?
Thanks in advance.

If that was so, why not use one consisting of plain copper materials for the ultimate impedance match ? |
