Good luck with getting them to issue credit for downtime. I experienced a loss of services (internet, TV) a few weeks back and it went a little something like this:

Encore department: "Talk to technical support, this is the Encore department. We deal with billing errors and addition/removal of services. Have them write up a description of the issue and the system should take care of it. We can't/don't issue credits. Would you like me to transfer you to them?"

Technical support: "Talk to the Encore department, this is technical support. We can't/don't issue credits. Would you like me to transfer you to them?"

No credit for that loss of TV/internet services appeared on the most recent bill. Nice work, Verizon.

1AM, I just got off the phone with someone in India(sounded like it at least). I asked what call center I was talking to, and the rep kept telling me I am calling Verizon. The guy would not tell me where I was calling. The wife is watching The Tudors on Showtime, and the blocking is the worst that I have seen. Enough to wake me up to show me.

They are still aware of the problem, and they expect the resolution by 6PM later today.

6PM LATER TODAY!!!!????? WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?????

The FSC now tells me that an "automatic credit" will be posted to my account for this outage(can't wait to see that not happen), but they can't tell me what the amount of the credit will be. I thought the FSC could not do billing, and that the Encore group would have to deal with that. At least, thats what they always tell me every other time that I call.

Too late at night, will check back later this Morning.

Any word this morning? I know they told you as late as 6pm today, but I'm hoping that that's a bad estimate. And I'm not home to check it out for myself. Last night things seemed to get much better for a while. I forget what we were watching, but there were no interruptions at all for a good stretch. Then around 10:15 or so it started getting bad... really bad. To the point where my wife said "wow, that's annoying... let's just watch something recorded on the DVR."

I'm hoping that whatever the cause of this problem is that they take care of it for good. I've seen some pixellating happen occasionally during the weekends (generally on Sundays) but usually it's a minor annoyance that clears up pretty quickly. Last night was definitely not the case.

As to the credit, is it automatic, or do you need to call to get it? To answer the question of how the FSC could provide a credit when they've always said that they couldn't - I could see that. The CSRs at the FSC are probably not allowed to give credits in general. But in this one case, they were probably authorized to do it. But since it's not something that they do regularly, I wouldn't hold my breath assuming that they're going to do it right... or quickly.

JPL-
I was watching some TV around 9 last night - seemed okay - then fell asleep. Looks like it must've come back again after I went to bed.

As far as this morning, I watched SportsRise while getting dressed for work - didn't see any issues.

So, hopefully it was corrected overnight. If I still see it tonight, i'm raising hell.

I checked DISCSC102 and Cartoon Network this morning and it appears, for now at least, the problem has been fixed.

The installer is coming out in a few minutes. I will make sure to ask him which "device" they swapped LOL.

Hooper, glad to see your install today went at least OK.
JeepMatt, I would likely bump this thread until next weekend. They(Verizon),needs to see how long this persists.

Everyone out there, please don't start new threads on the same problem!!!

It would be beneficial to all concerned to refer back to this one, so Verizon would recognize the longevity.

Hello,

While there was some relief, not all is good. TNT HD NBA Basketball video was poor due to some stutter last night. It is still not fixed.

H8-
That's a definite separate issue and not tied to our "Sunday" fun this past weekend.

For HD stutter - either reset the STB - OR - Go into the HD settings (Power Off, hit menu) - and simply toggle through all the resolution settings (1080, 720, 480) and go back to where you started from.

Almost 100% of the time it fixes it - seems to be a bug in the HD boxes.

Is it fixed?

Is this fixed? The reason I am switching to FiOS from Comcast Digital Cable is the severe tiling and pixelating issues. The televisions would pixelate so bad the screen would go blank. It almost made me downgrade to basic cable until FiOS came about. Please assure me this will not be the case come June 4th when they install everything.

Spanky-
Pixellation is fixed, but in order to fix it, they ruined the clarity of the HD channels (at least here in DE / PA). See my other thread....

I'm in Pa and I had the pixellation problem last week also but I've checked my hd channels including the new ones and I don't see any difference in clarity. They look crystal clear to me.

Then it must be only affecting areas West of Philly, not North.

Well I hope that's the case. Another reason I'm switching is better clarity on the standard and HD channels. I wouldn't want my 1080p flat panel LCD to go to waste. I will meet you in the next thread, but if this is a real issue, is there any word of it getting fixed? Anybody in Northern NJ experiencing this?

Spanky-
Right now, I only think it's affecting folks serviced out of Philly - which would be me in DE, PA folks, and south Jersey.

I'll hopefully find out more when my ticket is researched again.

If you're in North Jersey, i'm sure you're fine.

I'll be honest, Matt, I'm not seeing any difference in the HD quality either. I live west of Philly. I have watched some stuff recorded in HD, and it looks just as good as it had in the past (star trek enterprise off hdnet). Granted the last sporting event I watched was part of the NASCAR race on Sunday - maybe if I put on a game I'll see the difference.
